Exciting news coming from the world of Darcy's Crochet Creations!!!
I have a BRAND NEW pattern that I'll be releasing on Monday! Yep! Monday! This new pattern works up pretty fast and is a super cute addition to any wardrobe!! It's being tested right now so I can't really show you a whole lot! I want it to be a little bit of a surprise when it's officially released! For now, I'll just tell you that this pattern is going to take almost one full skein (minus a yard or so) of Brava Sport Yarn from Knit Picks. You can grab some here through my affiliate link: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=726901&U=1353943&M=59159&urllink= It's still only $1.99 per skein so I would order enough to give everyone in your life a gift! LOL The pattern also uses a G hook for working it up! I'll share more as the days go on about this fabulous pattern! I'm so excited!!! See you soon! Darcy

Darcy I started writing patterns a while ago. I have ebbs and flows of pattern designs. I have some times when patterns just fly through my brain. If I don't write it down....POOF it's gone! There are some times when patterns are a flop and that makes me sad. Other times, patterns come out SO much better than I had originally planned!
That brings me to tell you how I go about writing patterns! The first thing I always do is check Ravelry and Craftsy to see if there's already another pattern out there similar to what I'm wanting to do. The next thing I think about is if it's something that I would wear or my friends or family would wear what I'm designing? The next thing I do is start making my project! I write my stitches down as I go and by the end of it all, my first draft is complete!! After that, I put all of my notes down into a Google Doc. This is when I make my call for testers!! If the item has a number of sizes, I like to have at least 1 tester per size. If not, I like at least 2 testers. Once testing is complete, any and all adjustments, changes and fixes are done on the pattern! Pictures are taken and the pattern is ready!! Sometimes patterns are very well recieved. Other times, not so much. Thats OK. Don't ever give up! If you have ever written a pattern or published one, share it in the comments!! I would love to see what my followers have come up with and I would love to support other designers!! Have you ever visited Craftsy? Do you know what Craftsy is? Well let me tell you about a few parts of Craftsy and then give you some affiliate links to get to classes, patterns and supplies!!
Craftsy is an amazing website that allows you to purchase kits, classes and other supplies. Pattern designers around the world have patterns available to us both free and for purchase! There is amazing yarn that you can purchase through Craftsy. I have recently bought yarn through the shop and it came fast with a super deal! I love buying through Craftsy! The pattern database is so thorough and diverse! There are patterns for hats, socks, scarves and even animal vests! You name it, it's there! Supplies such as knitting needles, crochet hooks and blocking supplies are great and have great prices. Did you know that Craftsy offers classes? Classes from crochet techniques, knitting classes, photography classes and other amazing topics! So now, I'd like to provide you with an affiliate link to a crochet class and tell you how they work! I have become an affiliate with Craftsy and if you purchase the class when clicking on my affiliate link I will receive compensation for your purchase! The wonderful part of the classes is that once you purchase them you can keep them in your library and review them whenever you want! Here's the first class I'd like to tell you about! The class is the Crochet Colorwork Techniques class!! This class is taught by no other than the amazing Marly Bird! (A crochet guru and official Red Heart spokesperson!!) This class will teach you all about working chevrons, Catherine's Wheel, spirals, flowers, 3D embellishments and so much more! You'll learn many techniques and ways in how to make your crochet stand out and above all the others! Again, this link is an affiliate link and I will receive compensation if you purchase this class through my link! http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=827651&U=1353943&M=29190&urllink= Let me know what you think!!! Thanks for stopping by!!! Darcy Some of you may have noticed a couple of ads that are now located around the site! If not, you should take a sneak peak! They are all currently for Knit Picks! Have you seen their website? If not, oh my goodness, be prepared! It's amazingness, fabulousness and wonderfulness all rolled into one!
I have recently joined their affiliate program! YAY!!! What does that goodness mean for YOU? Well, occasionally, I'll be posting information about sales, special items and my favorite things that I find from there! Today, I just wanted to give you my affiliate link so you can go take a look around! If you click on the link that I provide and make a purchase or sign up for their email newsletter (new subscribers only), I get a small commission from it. So, without further ado, here is my affiliate link: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=726901&U=1353943&M=59159&urllink= Take a look around, drool over the yarny goodness, see some great patterns and amazing supplies! You won't regret it! I haven't yet! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi today! I hope to be showing more yarny goodness off soon! Have a great day! Darcy Silly me! I meant to add information in my post from yesterday about placing orders for Christmas! I must have clicked the wrong button before posting...oops! So, I'll add that information in there today! Most people don't really start thinking about Christmas gifts this "early" in the year. Many crafters and artists start thinking about Christmas orders and gifts on December 26th. I usually start posting information about my customers placing orders in October. This year, let's not wait as long. I want to be able to get as many people helped as possible! I have started accepting orders now for Christmas gifts. The cut off date for placing an order is December 1. I will not accept any orders after December 1 for Christmas gifts. If you want to order a Valentine's Day gift, that's another story. I just can't guarantee completion and delivery by Christmas if orders are placed after December 1. How do you place an order? EASY!! I have a number of different options for placing special orders. The first is simply sending me an email! Shoot me a message at [email protected] (simply click the envelope at the top of the page) and let me know what you're wanting, style, size and colors. If you have a picture of the item....FABULOUS! The second option is find me on facebook at www.facebook.com/darcyscrochetcreations (or click the facebook icon at the top of the page) and shoot me a message. Again, I'll need to know what you're wanting, if there is a certain style, color and size. If you have a picture or a link to a picture...WONDERFUL! The third option is the Special Order link at the very top of the page! There is a form for you to fill out with all of the information needed. Please note that I do require a minimum of a non-refundable 50% deposit down on all special ordered items to guarantee your spot in my calendar. I will ALWAYS send at least two pictures of the finished item prior to mailing it or delivering to make sure you love your order! I would also like to point out that I do NOT take special orders for the very large items such as blankets as these do take A LOT of time and I don't want to end up being late on a project. If you'd like to see how much an item costs, please do not hesitate to ask! I can give you a price for items based on a number of options: number of colors, sizing, difficulty of the pattern and what type of an item you're looking for. For example a poncho for a large adult made with 5 colors is going to cost more than a poncho with two colors for a child. I do ask that my customers and potential customers remember that not only are you paying for my supplies to create your beautiful crochet gem but also the time that it takes to make the item. Last but not least (of course!) If you don't want to wait on a special order item, you can ALWAYS check out my Etsy store! This is where I post "ready to ship" items (aside from the special order items) that you can purchase and have mailed to you right away! This is where I put the items that I make from the super special and fabulous yarn and items that I just think are gorgeous! You can click on over to that store here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DJCrochetCreations?ref=hdr_shop_menu Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I can help you out for your Christmas ( or ANY holiday) gifts for your loved ones! Have a fabulous and yarntastic day! Darcy Have you ever entered projects in a contest? I enter at least 3 projects per year in our county fair and try to send projects to the great Iowa State Fair!
Competitive crochet can be a great way to get your name out in the local community. It's also a great way to show your community that crochet isn't just grandma's afghans! Crochet can be anything from hats and mittens to slippers and jewelry! Don't be afraid to put your work out there. Even if you don't place, the judges will give you advice and tips on how to improve your work and how to get ribbons next year! I've gotten a TON of advice and help from the Iowa State Fair judges! By taking their advice, I got a second place ribbon this year!! Enjoy the competitions and use them to learn and grow as an artist! Thanks for stopping by! Darcy WOW! I didn't realize it's been a YEAR since I've put some information on here! I am going to be making some BIG changes with my business over the next couple of months so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for BIG announcements!
Now on to something new and fun! Have you ever seen an item in a shop and thought, "I'd really like that in a different color!" Well, I have recently started adding special order listings to my Etsy store! I realized that not everyone likes the yarns or colors that I make items in! I'm starting out slow with putting some special order listings for HATS! Yes, unfortunately winter IS coming and what better way to get ready than with a personalized hat! You can order a hat for yourself, your kids, your husband and yes, even for your mother-in-law! Head on over to my Etsy store to see all the great additions that have been listed in the last year and place your order today! See you soon! Thanks for stopping by! Darcy |
