I started writing patterns a while ago. I have ebbs and flows of pattern designs. I have some times when patterns just fly through my brain. If I don't write it down....POOF it's gone! There are some times when patterns are a flop and that makes me sad. Other times, patterns come out SO much better than I had originally planned!
That brings me to tell you how I go about writing patterns! The first thing I always do is check Ravelry and Craftsy to see if there's already another pattern out there similar to what I'm wanting to do. The next thing I think about is if it's something that I would wear or my friends or family would wear what I'm designing? The next thing I do is start making my project! I write my stitches down as I go and by the end of it all, my first draft is complete!! After that, I put all of my notes down into a Google Doc. This is when I make my call for testers!! If the item has a number of sizes, I like to have at least 1 tester per size. If not, I like at least 2 testers. Once testing is complete, any and all adjustments, changes and fixes are done on the pattern! Pictures are taken and the pattern is ready!! Sometimes patterns are very well recieved. Other times, not so much. Thats OK. Don't ever give up! If you have ever written a pattern or published one, share it in the comments!! I would love to see what my followers have come up with and I would love to support other designers!!

I love to crochet for my family, my friends and for others. I find my peace from a crazy day or just to relax and get my creative side going when I pick up a hook and yarn. This blog is my favorite pattern links, favorite projects I've completed and just some general crochet fun! Archives
