For the last few years, Sweet Potato 3 Crochet has hosted a month long challenge. The challenge is quite fun. She gets a bunch of pattern designers together and we all create a pattern. We then get our own day day to provide a pattern to our followers and friends. The only payment we ask for our new pattern on our day is at least 1 hat made from the pattern be donated.
This year, it was decided that we would choose a type of cancer and create a pattern according to the color of the ribbon that represents that type of cancer. I chose to write a pattern to honor all of the people who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer. This is a subject very near and dear to me. You see, I have 5 women in my life who are very important to me that either have or are fighting breast cancer. My aunt Lisa beat breast cancer and has been cancer free for a few years. Then, my cousin Lori was diagnosed and I am happy to say, she beat it too! My cousin Dawn then fought and beat it this past year. Shortly after she was diagnosed, my mom was diagnosed. Talk about taking your breath away! My mom also fought it and was declared clear this summer! Now....my aunt Cathy is fighting it. She is fighting with everything she has and has an amazing support system behind her! This pattern is named for a few of the strongest women I know. They are a testiment to the strength and courage it takes to beat breast cancer. I also know that every single one of them will tell you...early detection is the best way to win the first battle! I give you The CaLiLoSh Hat pattern! Head to my Ravelry listing: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/calilosh-crochet-hat Use coupon code "CC2019", no quotation marks. This coupon code is good through 10/16/19. You can also visit Sweet Potato 3's website here: https://www.sweetpotato3.com/week-2-crochet-cancer-challen…/fre

I love to crochet for my family, my friends and for others. I find my peace from a crazy day or just to relax and get my creative side going when I pick up a hook and yarn. This blog is my favorite pattern links, favorite projects I've completed and just some general crochet fun! Archives
